Playstation 1 Memory Card

So i have a Playstation 2 and i just bought Jedi Power Battles from Playstation 1, because it’s the greatest game ever made, and it won’t save to my memory card. Every time i try to save, it says please insert a memory card, even though my memory card is in, and there is pretty much no space taken up on my memory card? What do i do???? Anybody know how to help me?
